Tort Law of the European Community
The basic idea of the project was to find out what the status quo of tort law is in Europe (basically on the European Community level) and - as a second step - to examine whether this status quo complies with the national laws of the Member States (or with the existing European law families).
In order to gain an overview of EC tort law, one group of authors reported on individual topics that form the basis of tort law. Their reports awere designed to present the EC, as opposed to the national, level, of tort law. Another group of authors compared the findings of the first group (i.e. the status quo of tort law in Europe) with the basic ideas of tort law in the different legal families (national level).
