The conference Public Authority Liability in Comparative Perspective on 9 April 2013 in Graz, Austria will feature the work of the European Group on Tort Law in seeking to prepare a common European set of Principles of Public Authority Liability. The project will be explained against a backdrop of the contrasting approaches currently adopted in EU law and selected national legal systems (France, Greece, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Africa and Switzerland). Similarities and differences of approach will be illuminated through the discussion of hypothetical case studies. Further conference contributions will offer an economic analysis of the competing legal regimes and an outside perspective on the European Group's endeavours. Throughout the conference, there will be plenty of opportunity for attendees to engage in discussion with the speakers.
