Laura Ascher studied Law (Dr. iur.) at the University of Vienna. During her undergraduate studies, exchange programmes and internships brought her to Bologna, Cambridge and Shanghai, where she discovered her interest in foreign legal systems.
After graduating she took up a post as research assistant at the University of Vienna, Faculty of Law, Institute of Civil Law and started her research about the development of the new Chinese Tort Liability Law under the supervision of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Christiane Wendehorst, LL.M. From January 2011 to June 2012 she was recipient of a DOC Fellowship of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, which gave her the opportunity to carry out her research also at the Renmin University in Beijing, China.
In November 2012 she joined the scientific staff of the European Centre of Tort and Insurance Law under Prof Helmut Koziol.
